Through almost non-stop song and dance, this full-hearted musical tells the story of Ti Moune, a peasant girl who rescues and falls in love with Daniel, a wealthy boy from the other side of her island. When Daniel is returned to his people, the fantastical gods who rule the island guide Ti Moune on a quest that will test the strength of her love against the powerful forces of prejudice, hatred and even death.
Performers, artists, and aspiring technicians ages 8-17 all work together towards a common goal – a fully produced musical presented at the end of each Camp ENCORE session! A partnership between Prescott Park Arts Festival and Upside Arts, Camp ENCORE! nurtures self-confidence and creativity of each camper through singing, dancing, acting, visual arts, and technical theater while rehearsing a fully produced show.
Once On This Island JR. runs July 27th-28th at Prescott Park Arts Festival (105 Marcy St, Portsmouth, NH 03801). Showtimes are Saturday and Sunday at 10am. Performances are by donation, with table and blanket reservations available for an additional fee.
